The renovated Jetty and the Kolkata River Traffic Police Offices have been designed to respond to the identified aesthetic, historic and social values of its predecessor, with the original design, structural expression and materiality used to inform the design of the new Jetty bents, the jetty alignment, its width, and its fine-grain detail. Further to this, the interpretation of the heritage values has been carefully integrated into the design of the structure, with the reinstatement of many original features that had been long lost to time. The current social values relating to the place as a well-loved site can also be explored and identified with the new Jetty. Most importantly, the new Jetty seeks to a continuation of the important social, historic and aesthetic values into the future.
